غالبًا ما نرى الجمال والرائحة كمصدر بسيط للراحة ، ولكن في الواقع ، إنها مهارة بقاء طورناها نحن البشر مع مرور الوقت. قد تلاحظ أننا ببساطة نحب الألوان الهادئة والحيوية ولدينا موهبة في التناسق. ذلك لأن معظم الأشياء السامة أو الخطرة في الطبيعة تفتقر إلى هذه العوامل. وهو ما ينطبق أيضًا على النباتات.

أكثر النباتات سامة هي Nerium Oleander
والتي توجد في شمال إفريقيا وجنوب أوروبا وهي شديدة السمية عند تناولها ، حتى في تكتم. يُعتقد أن بعض جنود نابليون لقوا حتفهم بسبب استنشاق دخان تحميص اللحم على أعواد الدفلى في إسبانيا. حيث أن الزهرة تسبب عدم انتظام ضربات القلب حتى تتوقف العضلات عن النبض.

تصادف أن تكون أندر زهرة هي Middlemist Red '' المعروفة أيضًا لعلماء النبات باسم كاميليا غير محددة ” ، يوجد مثالان فقط من هذا النبات الوردي المحمر في العالم بأسره ، أحدهما في نيو زيلاند ، والآخر في بيت أخضر في المملكة المتحدة .

ومن النباتات النادرة الأخرى نبات “جوست أوركيد” الذي تنجم ندرته عن حاجته إلى درجات حرارة ورطوبة شديدة. وجدت في كوبا وفلوريدا ، ومن السمات الرئيسية للزهرة افتقارها إلى الأوراق.

تشتهر “Corpse Lily” المعروفة أيضًا باسم
“Rafflesia Arnoldi” Bengkulu
وجزيرة سومطرة وإندونيسيا ، برائحتها المقززة ويمكن أن يصل وزنها إلى 11 كجم.

منقار الببغاء ، زهرة تنفجر بظلال صفراء برتقالية وحمراء ، يمكن أن تعيش فقط في درجات حرارة ثابتة ومتسقة.

We often see beauty and aroma as a simple source of comfort, but in reality, it’s a survival skill we humans developed overtime. You may notice we simply love calm yet vibrant colors and have a knack for symmetry. It’s because most poisonous or dangerous things in nature lack these factors. Which also applies to plants.

The most poisonous plant happens to be Nerium Oleander which is found in northern Africa, southern Europe and is incredibly toxic when ingested, even discreetly. It’s believed that some of Napoleon’s soldiers died inhaling it’s smoke roasting meat on oleander sticks in Spain. As the flower causes irregular heart rate until the muscle stops beating all together.

Now that we know the most poisonous, what about the rarest?

The rarest flower happens to be the ‘Middlemist Red’ also known to botanists as the ‘Unspecified Camelia’ only 2 examples of this reddish pink plant are found in the whole world, one in New Ziland, the other in a green house in the UK.

Another rare plant is the ‘Ghost Orchid’ whose scarcity is caused by its need for extreme temperatures and humidity. Found in Cuba and Florida, one of the flower’s key characteristics is its lack of leaves.

The ‘Corpse Lily’ aka ‘Rafflesia Arnoldi’ Bengkulu, Sumatra Island and Indonesia, happens to be quite famous for its revolting smell and can weight up to 11 kg.

The parrot’s beak, a flower that explodes in shades of yellow orange and red, can only survive in stable, consistent temperatures.
